A message from the Director
QIMR's 2007-2008 Annual Report was tabled in State Parliament this month by the Minister for Health, the Hon. Stephen Robertson. The report details the significant changes QIMR has undergone over the past year including the reorganisation of the four major research divisions and restructuring of the corporate division.
QIMR scoops up major grants in latest NHMRC funding round The NHMRC’s recent grants announcement held more good news for the Institute. Following 17 new project grants awarded in October, QIMR researchers have now received one major new program grant worth almost $6 million, two special NHMRC-European grants and five new Research Fellowships for 2009.
QIMR mourns the loss of a great knight and companion
Long-standing Chairman, Sir Bruce Watson AC, sadly passed away on Saturday 1 November. QIMR Director, Professor Michael Good, said it is impossible to overstate the contribution that Sir Bruce has made to the Institute.
NHMRC directs $10m to QIMR
QIMR scientists have received more than $10 million in funding from the latest round of National Health & Medical Research Council (NHMRC) project grants, with a higher percentage of successful grants than any other Australian medical research centre.
